Victorian Mount Hope Mansion was built in 1800 in Lancaster County, PA, as a summer home for the wealthy, colonial ironmaster Grubb family and served in that capacity for four generations. In 1979, a 10 acre vineyard was planted when the property was purchased by a group of investors who developed the eighty-seven acre estate into Mount Hope Estate & Winery. The estate has truly become truly a Mecca for the culinary and performance arts, with the center attraction being its wines, beers and the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, late summer and early fall. The estate wine shop is open year round with a dinner theater run in the Mansion, in the early months of the year and theatrical shows in late fall, Poe Evermore and Dickens Christmas. Over 30 varieties of wine are produced annually, including Cabernet, Pinot Grigio, Merlot, Chardonnay, Seyval, Ice Wine, spiced wines, meads, fruit wines, cream sherry and port.
